Welcome to Deer Park

Proximity to the intersection of Yonge and St. Clair makes Deer Park a comfortable and convenient neighbourhood for all. Homes in this area are a wonderful mix of detached, semi-detached and luxury terrace homes with a variety of architectural styles. Unlike some midtown neighbourhoods, Deer Park also has a number of luxury condominiums. These buildings have stunning views of parks, ravines and the cityscape.

Yonge and St. Clair features plenty of fine restaurants, a variety of retailers as well as the St. Clair Centre, The Towne Mall and Delisle Court. As this area draws people from all around the city in can be somewhat busy at times.

Given that, Deer Park still has places such as The Rosehill Reservoir and David Balfour Park to escape the hustle of the city and immerse yourself in nature. Rosehill Reservoir if you have not been, is somewhat of an oasis in the city. It has a four acre reflecting pool lined with cobblestones, waterfall, flower garden, fountains and access to walking trails.

History

“Mushquoteh”, which means a meadow or opening in the wood where deer come to feed is the word that First Nations people gave to the area in which Deer Park is situated. In 1837, the Heath family purchased 40 acres of land in Mushquoteh and appropriately named their estate Deer Park.

The deer were long gone outside of the city by the time the industrial revolution rolled around which coincided with the annexation of Deer Park into the City of Toronto in 1908.
