Welcome to Lawrence Park

Lawrence Park is a family oriented community with amazing schools, parks and recreation offerings. Many residents are drawn to the fact that they are close to the 401, Bayview and the Don Valley Parkway providing easy access to all areas of the city. TTC access is also a close walk for most residents with multiple bus routes and Lawrence Park subway station at the corner of Yonge & Lawrence.

The homes of Lawrence Park include a variety of architectural styles including Tudor Revival’s, English Cottage, Georgian and neo-Colonial. Many of the older original homes were built between 1910 & 1940. Newer homes built in the past 10 years blend old-world styling in modern versions of their predecessors.

Custom home builders have done a wonderful job of keeping the old charm of the neighbourhood and staying with the congruity of the existing homes. These detached homes start in the two million dollar range as 50 foot frontages are quite the norm with 60 and 80 foot frontages being some of the larger pieces of land.

History

The Lawrence Park subdivision was assembled by the Dovercourt Land Building and Saving Company in 1907. It was acquired by the company from John Lawrence, after whom this community was named.

The selling points of the neighbourhood still remain true today as it was touted as “four hundred feet above Lake Ontario” and “far from the lake winds in winter”. Development of this area was sporadic as two world wars, the great depression and a recession hampered progress. However, by 1950 Lawrence Park was completely developed.
